Issue 31

Long before now, there are some African entrepreneurs who had made sacrifices to rewrite the story of Africa, thereby transforming the economy of Africa through their businesses. One of such is Mohammed “Mo” Ibrahim, a Sudanese-British, who transformed our continent through Celtel, a telecommunication company with operations in several African countries. Next is Strive Masiyiwa, a London-based Zimbabwean who disrupted our continent with Econet Global, a diversified telecommunications group with operation in Africa, Europe, South America and East Pacific Rim. On this list of African disruptors is Ambassador Abiodun Sowemimo, a Nigeria who has started his journey to stamping the brand called Africa on the global map through his technology-driven businesses.

Ambassador Abiodun Sowemimo is a multiple award-winning computer programmer, financial technologist, diplomat, internet entrepreneur, domain broker, computer and media applications and online reputation management mogul who also received the 2019 World Youth Forum Award in Egypt. He is currently the chairperson of African Chamber of Innovation Internet Governance and Digital Inclusion, and was appointed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to champion Lagos State Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this interview, you will enter into the mind of Abiodun Sowemimo, who was conferred with the Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Information Technology Management from the Prestigious Icon University of Management Science and Technology, to understand his perspective and philosophy to establishing and scaling businesses in Nigeria and Africa at large.
